Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the most asked questions from our users.

What is Carder?
Carder is a Nigerian app for two things: buying gift cards, and selling crypto to naira. Gift cards are priced in naira and paid from your naira wallet, which you can top up from any Nigerian bank or fund by selling crypto. To sell crypto, send USDT, USDC, Bitcoin, Ethereum or Solana to your own deposit address, convert to naira, and transfer to any Nigerian bank. You can also pay for airtime, data, electricity and TV.
How do I create a Carder account?
Download the Carder app, sign up with your email and phone number, then verify your identity with your BVN. Once that's done your naira and dollar wallets are ready to use.
How do I buy a gift card?
Open Gift Cards from your home screen, pick the brand, then the card type, the country and the amount. Confirm with your transaction PIN and the naira price you saw on the screen is what leaves your wallet. Most codes are issued straight away and show on your receipt. If the brand is slow to issue one the receipt says Processing and updates itself, so reopen it from your transactions later.
Which gift card brands can I buy?
About 50 brands on the Gift Cards screen, the ones people actually ask for: Steam, Amazon, Apple, Google Play, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Roblox, Netflix, Spotify, Razer Gold, Nike, Adidas, Uber, Airbnb and eBay, plus prepaid Visa, Mastercard and American Express vouchers. The search box on that screen filters the shelf, so type a few letters to jump to a brand. If you search for one we do not carry, we see it, and what people search for is how we decide what to stock next.
Do I have to convert crypto to naira before buying a gift card?
No. Gift cards are priced in naira and paid from your naira wallet, and that wallet has its own Nigerian account number, so you can top it up straight from any bank app and buy a card without touching crypto at all. Selling crypto to naira is just one of the two ways to fund it. If your naira balance is short the purchase will not go through, so top up first.
Can I pay for a gift card with my naira wallet?
Yes, and that is how it works. Gift cards are priced in naira and charged to your naira wallet when you confirm with your PIN. If your naira balance is short the purchase will not go through, so top up first. You can transfer to your Carder account number from any Nigerian bank app, or convert dollars to naira and spend that.
Where does my gift card code appear?
Two places, both yours to keep: we email it to you, and it shows on the receipt inside the app, which you can reopen any time from your transactions. If you bought the card for someone else, the code goes to the email address you entered for them instead of yours.
Can I buy a gift card for someone else?
Yes. On the confirmation screen enter their name and email address and the code is sent straight to them, with your message if you add one. The purchase still comes out of your naira wallet and the receipt stays in your app.
My gift card code has not arrived. What do I do?
Check the receipt in the app first, because the code lands there as soon as the brand issues it, and check your spam folder for the email. If the receipt still says Processing, the brand has not issued it yet and it will update itself. If it has been more than a few hours, message support with the reference on the receipt and we will chase it.
Can I return a gift card or sell one to Carder?
No. Once a code is issued it cannot be returned, cancelled or refunded, because whoever holds the code can spend it. Carder also does not buy gift cards from customers, so we cannot take a card off your hands for naira. Check the brand, the country and the amount before you confirm.
Why does the country on a gift card matter?
A gift card only works in the country it was issued for. A US Amazon card will not redeem on Amazon UK, and a UK Steam card will not work on a US account. Pick the country that matches the account you are going to spend it on, not the country you are in.
How do I convert between dollars and naira?
Tap Convert in the app, enter the amount, and you'll see the exact rate and what you'll receive before you confirm. The minimum is 3 dollars or the naira equivalent, and it usually completes within a few minutes.
How do I fund my USD wallet with crypto?
Open your USD wallet in the app, tap Add funds, pick the coin and network, and send to the deposit address shown. Your dollars are credited once the network confirms the transfer.
Which coins and networks can I deposit?
USDT on TRC20, ERC20, BEP20, Solana and Polygon. USDC on ERC20, Solana, BEP20, Polygon and Base (USDC has no TRC20). Plus Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana on their own networks. Whatever you send is credited to your wallet as US dollars.
What does funding with crypto cost?
A 0.6% funding margin, already included in the amount the app shows you before you send. What you see is exactly what you get, there are no surprise deductions.
Is there a minimum crypto deposit?
No minimum. You can deposit any amount.
My crypto deposit hasn't arrived yet
Deposits are credited after the blockchain confirms them. Stablecoins and Solana usually land within minutes, Bitcoin and Ethereum can take longer when their networks are busy. If it's been over an hour, chat with support in the app and we'll trace it.
How do I convert dollars to naira?
Tap Convert in the app, enter the amount and you will see the rate and exactly what you will receive before you confirm. It goes one way, from your dollar balance to naira. The minimum is 3 dollars.
What does converting cost?
Two things, both shown before you confirm: our 3% margin is built into the rate you see, and there is a service fee of 1 dollar for conversions under 100 dollars, or 1% for 100 dollars and above.
How do I add naira to my wallet?
Tap Add funds on your naira wallet and you'll see your personal Carder account number. Transfer to it from any Nigerian bank app and your wallet is credited automatically.
How do I send money or withdraw to a bank account?
Tap Send money, choose the bank account, enter the amount and confirm with your PIN. Transfers to any Nigerian bank cost a flat 200 naira. Sending to another Carder user is free and instant.
How do I upgrade to Tier 2?
In the app, open your profile and tap the upgrade prompt, then verify your NIN and take a quick selfie. It takes about a minute and your new limits apply immediately.
What bills can I pay on Carder?
Airtime, data, electricity, cable TV subscriptions, betting wallet top-ups and education payments, all straight from your naira wallet.
Do bill payments cost extra?
No. You pay exactly the face value, with no service charge.
I paid for airtime or data but it hasn't arrived
The network sometimes takes a few minutes to deliver. If it still doesn't arrive, the payment is reversed to your wallet automatically. Chat with support in the app if you'd like us to check on it.
Does Carder have a dollar card?
Not yet. Carder does not issue a card today, so if you ever see a card charge that names Carder, it is not us and you should tell support straight away. For now you can fund your USD wallet with stablecoins, hold dollars, convert to naira and buy gift cards. We will say so plainly in here on the day that changes.
What are the account limits?
Once you're verified at signup with your BVN and a quick selfie, your wallet has a 25,000,000 naira daily limit and unlimited balance. There are no tiers to climb, you verify once. A NIN is only needed later if you decide to get a card.
Do I need to upgrade my account?
No. There are no tiers to upgrade. You verify once during signup with your BVN and a quick selfie, and your full limits apply straight away. If you later want a card, we will ask for your NIN at that point.
Is my money safe with Carder?
Your funds are held with licensed partners, your identity is verified with your BVN and a live selfie, and every payment is protected with your transaction PIN and biometric lock.
How do I keep my account secure?
Set a transaction PIN and turn on Face ID or fingerprint unlock in the app. Never share your PIN, password or OTP with anyone. Carder will never call or message you to ask for them.
How do I reset my password?
On the login screen tap Forgot password and we'll send a secure reset link to your email.
How do I get my account statement?
Open your wallet, tap Statement, choose a date range, and we'll email it to you as a PDF.
How do I reach support?
Tap Support in the app, use the live chat on carder.ng, or email [email protected]. A real reply, fast.
How do I earn by inviting friends?
Open Referrals in the app and share your code. Once a friend signs up with your code and does 100,000 naira worth of business on Carder, converting crypto, paying bills or buying gift cards, 1,000 naira lands in your naira wallet. It builds up across everything they do, and you earn once for every friend you bring.
Can I change my referral code?
No. Your referral code is created for you automatically from your name, so it stays the same. Just share it as it is from the Referrals screen.
What app can I use to buy gift cards in Nigeria?
Carder, on iOS and Android. It sells about 50 gift card brands including Steam, Apple, Amazon, PlayStation, Xbox, Google Play, Roblox and Razer Gold. You pay in naira from your Carder wallet, which you can top up from any Nigerian bank or fund by selling crypto, and the code is emailed to you and saved on your receipt in the app.
Does Carder buy gift cards?
No. Carder sells gift cards, it does not buy them back and does not trade them. If you are holding a card you want to turn into cash, Carder is not the place for that.
Can I buy a gift card and send it to someone else in Nigeria?
Yes. At checkout you can enter someone else's name and email, and the code goes to them instead of you. The receipt still lands in your own transaction history.
Do I need a dollar card to buy gift cards in Nigeria?
No dollar card and no international payment to set up. The card is priced in naira and paid straight from your Carder naira wallet, which you can top up from any Nigerian bank app.
How do I sell crypto to naira in Nigeria?
Send USDT, USDC, Bitcoin, Ethereum or Solana to your deposit address in the Carder app. Anything that is not already a dollar stablecoin is converted for you, and your dollar balance is credited with what it actually fetched. Then convert dollars to naira in the app and transfer the naira to any Nigerian bank account. No P2P and no waiting on a counterparty.
Can I sell Bitcoin in Nigeria on Carder?
Yes. Carder takes Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana as well as USDT and USDC. Send it to your deposit address and your dollar balance is credited with the proceeds, which you can then sell to naira. Carder is not an exchange: there is no trading between assets and no way to buy crypto in the app.
Which app can I use to convert USDT to naira in Nigeria?
Carder. It runs on iOS and Android, takes USDT on TRC20, ERC20, BEP20, Solana and Polygon, and pays naira into your Carder naira wallet, which you can then transfer to any Nigerian bank account.
Where can I receive USDT in Nigeria?
Carder gives every user their own deposit address. Send only the assets Carder supports, on a supported network: USDT, USDC, Bitcoin, Ethereum or Solana. Anything else sent to that address cannot be recovered. What arrives credits your dollar balance and stays in dollars until you decide to move it, so being paid in crypto does not force you into naira on the day it lands.
How much does it cost to convert dollars to naira?
Small converts settle on the spot and carry no flat fee. Larger amounts run a slower settlement path with a $1 fee. Carder keeps a 1% margin on the rate either way, and the amount you will receive is shown before you confirm.
Can I convert naira back to dollars on Carder?
No. Convert runs one direction only, dollars to naira. There is also no way to buy crypto in the app.
Does Carder have a virtual dollar card?
Not yet. Virtual dollar cards are not live on Carder. What is live today is gift cards, dollar to naira converts, naira bank transfers, and airtime, data, electricity and TV bills.
