Delete Your Account

1. Delete your account in the app

You can delete your account yourself from inside the Carder app:

• Open the Carder app and sign in.
• Go to Profile, then Edit profile, then Close account.
• Read the on-screen notes, type DELETE to confirm, and submit.

Before you close your account, move out any naira, dollar, or crypto balances first, because funds cannot be recovered after closure. Please also note that once your account is closed, any virtual card linked to it is cancelled, and you cannot open a new Carder account for six months.

2. Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app, you can ask us to delete your account instead. Email [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject line Delete my account, and include your registered phone number. We will verify your identity and then process your request, normally within 30 days.

3. What data is deleted

When your account is closed, you can no longer sign in, and we delete or anonymise the personal data we no longer need. This includes your profile details such as your name, email address, phone number, date of birth and address, your profile photo, your saved beneficiaries, and your device and push-notification tokens.

4. What we keep, and for how long

Carder is a regulated financial service, so Nigerian anti-money-laundering law (AML/CFT) requires us to keep certain records even after your account is closed. Your identity and verification records (such as your BVN and ID checks) and your transaction history are retained for at least five years after closure, and then securely deleted. During this period this data is kept only to meet our legal and regulatory obligations, and is not used for anything else.
